Dr. Hoang is the president of the Chinese American Acupuncture Research Institute and the founder and president of the Texas Acupuncture Association, founded in 1980. Since 1982, Dr. Hoang has been the acupuncture advisor to the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. He is a former ophthalmologist (eye doctor), an acupuncturist licensed in the state of Texas, and a diplomate acupuncture by the NCCA. He has also written an article on acupuncture that was published in the American Journal of Acupuncture.
Dr. Hoang provides acupuncture therapy in Houston, Texas. He holds license AC0002 as issued by the Texas Medical Board.
Credentials:
*Ophthalmologist and Acupuncturist Dr. Duong Hoang immigrated to the U.S.A. from Saigon, Vietnam in 1975.
*Post Graduate Studies: Many courses in Hong Kong and mainland China, in addition to post-graduate medical training at the University of Arkansas Medical School, 1975-1977.
*Volunteered to work as physician and eye surgeon in the 47th Field American Military Hospital in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, 1975.
*Relocated to Houston, opening the Acupuncture Therapy and Research Clinic, in partnership with F.O. McGehee, MD, 1978.
*Co-founder and president of the Acupuncture Association of Texas (AAT), unifying acupuncturists statewide for the purpose of promoting and protecting the integrity of the acupuncture profession. AAT was a "pioneer" association, seeking legislative recognition of acupuncture in the State of Texas. With strong support from then Speaker of the House, Bill Clayton, AAT established the first highly visible legislative agenda for obtaining an Acupuncture License regulation in the State of Texas, 1979.
*Published the article, "Acupuncture Therapy for Paralysis Due to Stroke and Multiple Sclerosis" in the American Journal of Acupuncture, Vol. 9, No. 2. 1981.
*Appointed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners to the five-member Acupuncture Advisory Committee to work on the regulation of acupuncture in Texas.
*Received Certificate of Citation from the State of Texas House of Representatives, 1982. This certificate was presented for Dr. Hoang's outstanding contribution to the medical profession and to Texas citizens in sharing his knowledge and expertise through the practice of acupuncture.
*Received an Honorary Doctor of Science "for contributions to the progress of the Sciences of Oriental Medicines" from the International Medicina Alternativa.
