Yan-Xiang Li, OMD,  L.Ac.

Dr. Li comes from a family of well-known acupuncturists.  As a teenager, she began her apprenticeship with Bin De Yuan, a renowned acupuncturist in northern Jiang Shu province in China.  After graduating from Third People’s Hospital (formerly Gu Lou Hospital) in 1964, she worked and studied in different hospitals.  Before she came to the United States in 1984, she was head of the acupuncture department in Jie He Hospital, Xu Zhou.  After immigrating to the United States, she received Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland and began teaching acupuncture at the facility since 1987 and directed the acupuncture department for many years.  In 1988, due to her excellent skill and knowledge of acupuncture, she was invited to teach international advanced acupuncture courses at San Francisco State University.  Over the years, she has held continuing education seminars to practicing acupuncturists for topics such as stroke, migraine, and etc. In close to forty years of practicing acupuncture, she has treated many difficult cases, solved many health problems, and received much praise from students, patients, as well as friends and colleagues both for her skills and ethics.  She was interviewed on "Alternative Uncovered" program shown several times on Discovery Channel and repeatedly interviewed by local television stations on different health subjects.  She was voted Chair of Supervisors in United California Practitioners of Chinese Medicine, an association of acupuncturists.  She is the author for acupuncture treatment section of "Modern Traditional Chinese Orthopedics: published by Chinese Medicine Publishing Company.
